Frequently asked questions

What is Bridge4Life?

Bridge4Life is a part-time alternative provision that supports children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who are currently attending mainstream schools. We focus on developing life skills, independence, and emotional wellbeing through structured, small-group sessions.

Is Bridge4Life a school?

No, Bridge4Life is not a school. We provide short-term, part-time support that works alongside a child’s existing school placement.

Who can attend Bridge4Life?

We support children who:

Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

Are in mainstream education

Need support with independence, social communication, or emotional regulation

Our provision is typically aimed at children aged 7–11.

How often do children attend?

Each child attends one 4-5-hour session per week as part of a 6-12-week intervention programme.

How many children are in each session?

We work with small groups of up to 6 children per session, ensuring each child receives appropriate attention and support on a 1:3 ratio.

What do sessions involve?

Sessions focus on real-life skill development, including:

Cooking and food preparation

Self-care and independence skills

Money management

Social communication and teamwork

Community-based activities

How are children referred?

Referrals must be made through:

- Schools

- SENCOs

We do not accept direct referrals from parents, but parents can speak to their child’s school about a referral.

Is transport provided?

Transport arrangements can be discussed with the referring school and are considered on an individual basis.

How is progress measured?

Each child has clear intervention goals set at the start of their placement. Progress is monitored throughout the programme, and a final report is shared with the referring school at the end of the 6-12 weeks.

Will this replace a child’s school?

No. Children remain on roll at their mainstream school. Bridge4Life is designed to complement their education, not replace it.

Who funds the placement?

Placements are typically funded by schools for children who have a EHCP. Please contact us to discuss funding options.

What happens at the end of the programme?

At the end of the 12-week programme, children take part in a community-based experience where they can apply their skills. A final progress report is then provided to the referring school.
